Back in Action....

Hello there blogging world....as you may have noticed it's been well over a year since you've seen any sort of action on this site. Partially this is because I've been focusing my attention on my regular blog - and part of the reason is because I have decided to display my photography in other ways than on here. I've recently decided to undertake a new project called "24 by 24" (thanks Tawnya and Shauna for some inspiration) It's going to be a photo journalistic journey as I set out to accomplish 24 different things by my 24th birthday. Stay tuned for more details, and be sure to come back and join me on my journey of making the most of today and begin to seize the moment NOW!

Adelaide and Damon

Last week I had the opportunity to spend the day with Adelaide and Damon as they celebrated their marriage in the Rexburg temple. Their reception was in the most amazing cabin 15 minutes east of the Highway in Ashton. It was a wonderful day. They were so fun to spend time with, and were good sports when it came to trudging through the snow.

For my photo class we had to visit the same location multiple times throughout the semester. I went to this abandoned house off of archer road. It was a fun project, but definitely a bit of a tough one!! Enjoy!

I am sharing a room with my 11-year-old sister this week. I kind of laugh when I see scenes like this - it reminds me of all the crazy things I did at that age. For the record....My Grandma does Rock, Heather does love our dog Mickey very much and if you can't tell by the giant poster - she also loves Zac Efron.

I did my laundry tonight. I thought for sure that since this is the last day of school that the laundry room would be vacant. Apparently I was wrong, very very wrong. It was more packed than I've ever seen it!! All these great college kids trying to impress their mom's with clean clothes.

For my photo class we had an assignment to show the passage of time. This is one of 4 time-lapse videos I played around with. This is the first time I've ever experimented with something like this. Take it for what it is, but I had fun making it. There is over 4,000 pictures in this thing.

Today was a fabulous day. Busy, stressful but beautifully sunny and great. Tonight we had a unit pricing event for i-Comm and we all had to dress up. I wore my heels, and when I went to take them off I noticed how worn they are on the bottom. I love that about shoes, especially my favorite shoes - they have so many stories to tell.

The window in my living room is broken. My neighbor broke it. Luckily it's double paned glass and only the outside pane is broken. I was walking up my balcony today and realized the neat shapes created by the shatter lines as well as the pieces of glass sitting between the two panes. I thought I would capture it before the fix it man comes to replace our window. Isn't this kind of how some Monday's feel? Shattered, disjointed and frustrating?

Today Jen and I went to a pre-thanksgiving feast at our neighbors house. It was SO much fun. We had everything from turkey, potatoes, and homemade rolls to homemade wassail. If anything it made me that much more excited to be with my family on Thanksgiving!

Today I was able to take a tour inside the construction area of the MC and learn what they are doing and all that jazz. I loved the light coming through these metal things (for lack of a better word). It was really neat to go on site and see what's actually happening inside there!

I work as the Photo Editor for i-Comm Student Media. This past week my staff of 13 photographers and I undertook the project of covering life on campus for an entire day. It was a wonderful learning experience for me as well as my staff. We had lots of fun, but our six page photo layout required a lot of extra time with layouts, etc. Ever since the paper came out Tuesday morning, I come home to find a smattering of Scroll's all over my bed. At first I thought it was a one time thing, but for the past two days every time I leave the apartment I come home to find more papers on my bed. I now have a good 25 issues of this week's scroll stacked up next to my desk. The highlight of this story came today. I haven't really known who was up to these shenanigan's but today I left my apartment and about 15 seconds after I left I remembered I forgot my phone. I turned back and re-entered my apartment to find my roommate Elaine hovering over my bed. It made me laugh. Really hard. I just love life and all the silly things that come up. It's sunny and beautiful today. This week is looking up!

I went to the homecoming football game down in Rigby. It was fun to go to a small town game and experience all the hype. It definitely made me glad that I am not still in high school, but it did have some nostalgic feel with it.

For my photo class here on campus we were assigned a self-portrait assignment and this is what I came up with. Enjoy the many sides of Amy Worthington!

Camera Obscura

In High School, my Photo 3 class decided to experiment and see if we could turn our class into a camera obscura. We covered the windows with black plastic. We then hung a strip of white butcher paper and stood around the room with white mat boards. If you cut a hole into the black it will project an image of whatever is outside the window into the room. To our eyes it looked black and white - but when we took a picture of what was being projected it was in color. Another interesting side note is that when an image is projected it is projected upside down..Thus the reason for both examples. I hope to someday soon repeat this experiment, it was definitely entertaining!

One weekend, I had a chance to attend the Rexburg City "Cyclo-Cross" which is a combination of bike riding and obstacle course. The race lasts for an hour and whomever has the most laps at the end is the winner. It made for a great Saturday morning activity.
